The Prodigy - Funky Shit (All Out Remix)

Some records stay in musical memory long enough to make a listener want to return and take the controls. The Prodigy’s music belongs to that circle for All Out. Funky Shit, from 1997’s The Fat Of The Land, became the source of an unofficial remix that entered the catalogue in 2014, before Psycho Breaks.

Behind it was a longstanding attachment that sat easily beside trance and melodic electronics. Enjoying one side of music did not require abandoning another. The remix turned familiar energy into a practical question: what happens when it is answered in a language of one’s own?

In 2023, Shikmusik included the version in a Prodigy-focused Sound System Aberration section. Nearly a decade later, the work was back among the music it addressed, and another participant had joined this longstanding enthusiasm.
