The bleak sonic aesthetics of the Industrial landscape

Cold metal, structures under strain, a space in which rest seems difficult to find. Industrial Landscape evokes an almost visible scene, yet the pressure behind it is human. War, anxiety and a growing sense of lost freedom cease to be a distant background. They alter the way the world feels and gradually enter the music.

Released in September 2023, the track gives that pressure the language of acid breakbeat. Broken rhythms and a weighty low end provide its support; the acid line becomes its nerve. The industrial imagery has a personal foundation: beneath the hard exterior lies a sensitivity to events that cannot simply be switched off.

All Out had known this musical language for years. Records by Omar Santana and Evan Gamble Lewis appeared in his DJ selections long before Industrial Landscape. Their energy helped shape the musical world in which his own work developed. Familiar reference points eventually met a different experience, more troubled and in need of an expression of its own.

The story of this dark track also acquired an unexpectedly bright side. The material drew Evan Gamble Lewis’s attention, later leading to work on its sound. For All Out, that was a meaningful closing of distance: someone whose records had once provided inspiration was now responding to his music. Not every possibility developed further, but the response itself mattered.

The original single’s two versions give the feeling different amounts of space. Edit holds the statement in a compact form; Extended allows a longer stay inside it.

Industrial Landscape carries the weight of its time without surrendering to it. The rhythm still moves. As long as internal pressure can become music, it has somewhere to go.
