Get Bogged Down

The title suggests getting stuck; the impulse behind the track is to move. Get Bogged Down belongs to a period of social tension, when events outside music could no longer be kept in the background. Heavy breakbeat gave All Out one way of setting that pressure in motion.

The track appeared in preview form in 2021, ahead of its separate 2022 release. In roughly three and a half minutes, rhythmic weight meets attention to small edits, building a larger statement from close work on detail. The pressure takes a specific, short and concentrated form.

The track subsequently entered longer programmes. In 2023, Get Bogged Down appeared near the beginning of Funky Flavor and opened All Out’s part of Sound System Aberration with Shikmusik. A brief piece became a point of departure into other originals and other artists’ records. Being stuck is the starting condition here, rather than the final one.
