Approach Extraction EP

Starting a label gives the music a home of its own, one for which the artist is responsible. In December 2013, Approach Extraction opened the All Out Music catalogue with support from Scald Record Studio: the original track and remixes by Spinosa, Experimental Chemistry and Dub Rave.

That small circle existed before the label did. The same four tracks had already appeared through Scald, so this was a new publishing chapter rather than a newly recorded EP. All Out was not starting from nothing: the musicians around that first catalogue number had already found room for their own ideas in his work.

In the producer’s early mixes, his own tracks gradually took their place beside favourite records. Here the roles are reversed, with his music becoming the starting point for someone else’s imagination. Later EPs and Psycho Remixes would continue that exchange. At the beginning of All Out Music, four tracks were enough to turn an individual plan into a shared one.
