Environments

A new name needs a sound of its own. For All Out Project, that sense of change arrived with the early Ravers Domination Of Breakbeat and Fucking Idiots. The producer remembers them as a substantial step beyond his previous work. Environments gathers part of that period: twelve originals and remixes from 2011–2012, released together in January 2013. Fucking Idiots sits outside this selection but belongs to the same important beginning.

The producer’s musical interests pulled in several directions. Some mixes brought together Broken Note, Noisia and Spor; others turned to The Prodigy, The Chemical Brothers, Fluke and Hybrid. There was no need to choose a camp. Weight, melody and rave energy could all belong within the same project.

Several Environments themes would later become familiar under different names. Ravers Domination became The Ravers; Twisted, Electric Mesmerise and First Time continued as Twisted Reaction, Mentally Disturbed and The Wormhole. Road Of Darkness belongs to the line leading to Into The Storm. Sleepwalkers, The Book Of Lie, Necromancer and the work on Frank Mockery’s Nedoromantic remain beside them.

This is still a collection of accumulated material, rather than the unified album form of Psycho Breaks. Its variety offers a freedom of its own: the project’s musical identity is already becoming audible, while none of its possibilities has yet been closed off.
